Features:Easy SetupExperimental setup is done through waveform settings menus. Shown below is the menu for setting up a cyclic voltammetry menu. The voltage limits, scan rate and number of scans of the cyclic voltammetry waveform are entered. Then the current range and noise filter are set from a list of available values. Chronoamperometry and the pulse techniques, square wave and differential pulse have similar menus.
The next sections allow selection of the applied potential range, if any of the limits in the CV waveform are above 2V then the 4V Voltage Range must be selected. Cypress Systems has a current booster or preamp available, if this device is connected the PicoAmp Booster item has to be checked. For experiments like anodic stripping voltammetry the next section enables one to hold the initial and final potentials for a controlled length of time. The next section provides a method to control the status of the two digital I/O lines during the experiment. For example, in an anodic stripping experiment the initial hold period usually called the deposition step, the solution is typically stirred. With the digital I/O control you can set the stirrer to be on during the initial time period and turn off during the scan or stripping and again turn the stirrer on during the final hold. The final hold can be used to remove the mercury film on a glassy carbon electrode if using a thin mercury film electrode. The internal of external switch activates either the internal trigger of the start of the scan or it will wait until it receives the external trigger signal before starting a scan. Data AnalysisEach technique has its own unique data analysis menu. Below is the Data Manipulation Menu for cyclic voltammetry.
The "Locate" button locates the peaks in the CV data. Once located each peak can be analyzed for the peak height and area. Below shows the results of the analysis of one peak in a typical CV curve.
Other analysis of CV includes a semi-integral plot. The pulsed techniques have analysis for peak height and area and chronoamperometry data can be converted to charge versus time and charge versus the square root of time plots. All data files are saved as ASCII files so they can easily be imported into spreadsheet or plot program. << Cypress Home Page E-mail |
